My day starts off early in the morning, usually in my office on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
I read several newspapers and briefings to prepare for the day.
Throughout the day I meet with constituents to discuss important projects and issues that effect Oklahoma. I also meet with many students to discuss their future and their education.
While I am in Washington, I attend committee meetings and hearings. I am a member of two committees: The Natural Resources Committee and the Armed Services Committee.
My most important duty as a member of the House of Representatives is to debate and vote on legislation each day.
Bills are discussed on the floor of the House that will affect the lives of people in Oklahoma and across the United States. Members speak to the House from microphones at "the well",
the area immediately in front of the rostrum, the elevated platform where the speaker sits. The House Chamber, where the debates and voting procedures take place, is in the U.S. Capitol building.
I am honored to serve as a representative for Oklahoma's 4th Congressional District in Washington. If you or your family are planning to be in the Washington D.C. area, please feel free to call my office and set up a Capitol tour or a White House tour.
