Determining Your Case

Cases I Can Help With:

To help you get the best assistance for your case, it is a good idea to determine if you have a concern that my office is equipped and has the authority to help you with.

My office can help assist you when you have a question or concern that a federal agency handles. These agencies report to the Executive branch of the United States government. A few examples of federal agencies are: the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Please view this list to see a partial list of federal agencies. If your concern is with a federal agency, my staff is authorized to investigate on your behalf.

Cases I Cannot Help With:

Unfortunately, there are some cases that my staff is not authorized to assist with, such as if your concerns are with a local or state agency or if it is a judicial or civil matter currently moving through the court system. See examples of state and local issues and judicial issues below:

  1. Police Investigations
  2. Child Support
  3. State Worker's Compensation
  4. Non-Federal Medical Benefits
  5. Insurance Fraud
  6. Criminal Trials
  7. Local School Issues
  8. Custody, Divorce, or Other Civil Disputes

If your concern is one listed above, or deals with another state or local office, please contact your local state senator or state representative or view the following list of state agencies.

Additional Information:

Due to existing rules put into place by the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct in the U.S. House of Representatives, I am not allowed to act as an attorney or offer legal advice in any way.

My staff and I will do our best to assist you with your concerns, but please know that federal agencies have discretion about what decisions are made on individual cases.
